Golf Villa 119 Questions

  • What Other Services and Staff are Available?
If you need a cook for dinner, a butler, driver, masseuse, or babysitter etc., the Villa Manager will arrange for them.
  • Are there any extra charges above and beyond the daily rate?
No. However, guest must pay Casa de Campo a $25/day registration fee, per villa.
  • Does the Villa pay for transportation to and from the airport?
No. But we have special arrangements with an English speaking driver with a new large van who can pick you up at either airport. (The villa does not provide airport transportation for our guests.)

We recommend arranging airport transportation with the manager in advance. She will put you directly in touch with our recommended driver so you have direct contact with him.

From Santo Domingo International Airport (SDQ) — The one-way charge is about $ 90.00 for up to 5 passengers. We do not recommend renting a car and driving yourself from Santo Domingo International to Casa de Campo if you have not driven it before.

From La Romana International Airport —It is a 5 minute taxi ride to the Casa de Campo. The one-way charge is about $20.00 for up to 5 passengers.
  • Are there any restrictions at Golf Villa 119?
The Villa is a no smoking facility, except outside in the pool area. This is very important and the Villa Manager and maids will enforce this rule. We ask that you respect our neighbors in terms of noise and language.
  • What are the "check-in" and "check-out" times?
Check-in is 3pm and checkout is noon. However, if the Villa is not going to be occupied on either day, the Villa Manager may arrange for you to check-in or out whenever it is convenient for you.
  • Will someone meet us at the Villa?
The Villa Manager and staff will greet you upon your arrival and be available to familiarize you with the Villa operations. Your vacation starts as soon as you arrive!
  • May we make arrangements for food, beer & wine or restaurant reservations before we arrive?
Yes. You should email the Villa Manager who will arrange for reservations for restaurants, shooting range, baby sitter, butler, driver, masseuse, etc., in advance of your trip. In addition he/she will purchase and deliver a limited selection of provisions for the Villa selected by you.
  • Location of Golf Villa 119
The Villa is conveniently located. It is on the 11th fairway of the Links Golf Course. It is 5 minutes by golf cart from the beach which is Casa de Campo’s exclusive private beach (See photos on website of Minitas Beach). It is also less than 5 minutes from the hotel and facilities there including the Fitness Spa, hotel swimming pools and restaurants, etc. It is 2 minutes from the driving range. The Marina is 10 minutes by golf cart and tennis is also about 10 minutes away.
  • Does the Villa have an Internet Connection?
Yes. There is WiFi broadband service throughout the villa and outdoors on the patio and around the pool. Rather than taking turns on one DSL line, everybody with a wireless-enabled laptop computer can get online at the same time in any area of the villa, inside or outside.
  • How do I make telephone calls?
There is a phone in every bedroom and the kitchen of Golf Villa 119. Dial “0” for the Casa de Campo operator for assistance in placing your calls.

You will be billed for only chargeable calls when you check out.

Several mobile phones work in the Dominican Republic. However, you may want to check before you leave home with your phone company to arrange to have the phone activated for use overseas.
  • Can I bring children?
Yes, of course children are welcome, but it is critical to be very cautious around the swimming pool. The pool does not have a separate childproof fence, therefore, it is a hazard and you must observe the utmost control over the children at all times. Also, the interior tile floors are VERY slippery on wet feet.
  • Besides cleaning, what else is included on the maids' duties?
The maids will also make breakfast, do personal laundry, and serve coffee and drinks. Beyond that, you will have to contact the Villa Manager for extra services.
  • Are Tips Expected by the Household staff or Manager?
No. BUT they are much appreciated if you feel they are deserved.

Casa de Campo Questions

  • What airports are close to Casa de Campo?
The closest airport is the La Romano Airport (LRM). However, all flights to LRM require connections in San Juan or Miami. The next choice is the Santo Domingo airport (SDQ), which is one hour from Casa de Campo.
  • What do we do for transportation around Casa de Campo?
The most popular means of transportation around Casa de Campo is golf cart/touring cart (with seating for 4). The manager can make those arrangements. The cost averages around $ 35 per day. It is important to reserve them, as far in advance of your trip as possible, so they are available for your use.

Taxis are available for travel within Casa de Campo if you wish. For example, you cannot take a golf cart to Altos de Chavon. Or you may decide to visit the Marina at night for dinner, via taxi rather than golf cart. Most people travel by touring carts (golf cart with seating for four) that are available through the resort.

Cars can be rented at Casa de Campo Hotel as well for traveling around Casa de Campo, driving into to La Romana for food shopping, or even to La Romana International Airport.

There is also a free shuttle bus that will take you around Casa de Campo and it stops across the street from the Villa.
  • What are the rates to play golf?
These rates change by season and often there is a package available, therefore, it is best to contact the tee time coordinator or call the pro shop at 809-523-3187. You will be classified as a “golfer in a private Villa” and pay a flat rate per round including golf cart. There is also a twilight rate available after 2:30 pm.

They may schedule you to rotate the three courses, but you can see the starter (Marco) within 24 hours of playing and he will usually switch courses for you if there are open times. There are A, B and C "Caddies" that are available at reasonable rates (about $20 per round) to read greens, or drive the cart if you prefer to walk. Caddies, though not required, but are a lot of fun and recommended.

Hotel guests are given preference over guests at private villas in terms of rates. However, many of our guests have been able to work out special arrangements with a visit to the pro shop.
  • What are Some of the Activities in Casa de Campo?

  • How do I dress for dinner around Casa de Campo?
The attire is generally casual however, most men wear long pants at night, which is required at a few restaurants. In the winter months the temperature at night may be 70F or below. When riding in the carts to and from dinner, it may be a good idea to bring a sweater.
  • Can I use a hotel charge card during my stay?
Yes. While checking in at the Villa Owners' Club you will be issued a resort pass. The rate per villa is $25.00 per day for a resort charge card that will entitle you to use all of the facilities and charge any services such as golf, shooting range, horseback riding, food at the beach, etc. They will give you multiple cards for no extra cost so each person in the Villa can charge.

You can also arrange to have sub cards under the master card so that the expenses are broken down by person. Before you leave, you must go to the Villa Owners’ Club and pay the bill. You may use a credit card if you desire. Our Villa Manager will assist your group with this.
  • What do I do if I am sick?
Casa de Campo has a nurse on staff full time and a doctor on call. Call the front desk “0” on the house phone and they will get you in touch with the medical staff or services.

Dominican Republic Questions

  • What currency should I use?
The Dominican Peso is the official currency of the Dominican Republic. The exchange rate fluctuates, but is generally pegged to the U.S. dollar. In 2007 and 2008 ( as of May 1) it has held steady around 33 pesos per U.S. dollar. Dollars are easily and gratefully accepted almost everywhere in Casa de Campo, as are traveler’s checks and of course, Credit Cards.
  • Is it OK to drink the water?
Even though Casa de Campo has its own water supply that is filtered, it is recommended that you don’t drink the water. The Villa has bottled water in the kitchen and the maids will use the bottled water for ice. The ice you get from the grocery store is made with purified water.
